Iraq Necklace – Wear Your Heritage From the Land Between Two Rivers

An Iraq necklace is more than jewellery – it's a declaration of who you are. The Eagle of Saladin, the map of Mesopotamia, the colours red, white and black: with a necklace from d'origine, you carry your Iraqi roots right where the world can see them. Our Iraq Collection includes necklaces, bracelets, keychains, phone cases and mirrors – crafted from premium materials and backed by a 365-day guarantee. Whether you grew up in Baghdad, Erbil, Basra, Dearborn or Berlin: this necklace connects you to your heritage. At d'origine, people from more than 40 countries show where they come from. The Iraq Collection is one of the most popular in our range.

What Does the Eagle on the Iraqi Flag Mean?

The Iraqi flag features three horizontal stripes in red, white and black with the Takbir "Allahu Akbar" in green Kufic script on the white stripe. The Iraqi state emblem shows the Eagle of Saladin – the same symbol that appears on the emblems of Egypt and Palestine. The eagle refers to Saladin (Salah ad-Din al-Ayyubi, 1137–1193), the sultan born in Tikrit in present-day Iraq, who recaptured Jerusalem in 1187. The flag's colours are pan-Arab: red for courage, white for generosity, black for the victories of early Islamic conquests, and green for Islam. Iraq lies at the heart of Mesopotamia – the "land between the rivers" Euphrates and Tigris. Here the world's first cities emerged: Uruk, Ur and Babylon. The Sumerians invented writing around 3400 BC, and the Babylonians created the Code of Hammurabi (c. 1750 BC), one of the oldest legal codes in history. When you wear an Iraq necklace, you carry a symbol that represents the very cradle of civilisation.

Iraqi Jewellery: Mesopotamian Gold and Arab Tradition

Iraq has a jewellery tradition reaching further back than almost any other country on earth. The Royal Tombs of Ur (c. 2600 BC) contained goldwork of breathtaking fineness – diadems, necklaces and earrings that are now displayed at the Iraq National Museum in Baghdad and the British Museum in London. The gold treasure of Queen Puabi from Ur ranks among the most significant archaeological finds in human history. The Assyrian gold treasure of Nimrud (9th century BC) is also among the most important gold discoveries in the Middle East. In modern Iraq, gold plays a central role at weddings: the bride is adorned with gold jewellery in elaborate ceremonies – necklaces, bangles, earrings and forehead chains are all part of the bridal ensemble. The Souk al-Saray in Baghdad was for centuries a centre of goldsmithing. In the diaspora, jewellery with Iraqi motifs serves a special purpose: the eagle or the map around the neck makes belonging visible.

Material and Quality of Our Iraq Necklaces

Our Iraq Collection offers two material lines. The Iraq necklace for men (56 cm in gold, 65 cm in silver) and the Iraq necklace for women (40 cm + 15 cm) are made from 316L stainless steel – rust-proof, waterproof and scratch-resistant. The Iraq crest necklace for men (60 cm, pendant 2.9 cm) and the Iraq crest necklace for women (40 cm + 5 cm, hand-set with over 170 stones) are crafted from 18K gold-plated brass. We also offer the Iraq flag necklace for men (60 cm, brass 18K gold-plated). All variants are waterproof and allergy-friendly. All products come with a 365-day guarantee. Each necklace is delivered in a premium jewellery box.

Iraq Necklace in Silver or Gold – Which One Suits You?

Gold has carried meaning in Iraqi culture for millennia – from the gold treasures of the Sumerians and Assyrians to the jewellery still gifted at weddings today. The gold versions of our Iraq necklaces honour that tradition: the stainless steel necklaces feature 18K gold plating for a warm glow, while the brass crest necklaces offer an especially rich gold tone. The silver versions provide a cooler, more modern look. All variants are waterproof and allergy-friendly.

More Than a Necklace: The Full Iraq Range

Beyond necklaces, our Iraq Collection offers a wide range of accessories. The Iraq map bracelet in stainless steel (16 cm + 3 cm) with three pendants pairs perfectly with the necklace and is suitable for both men and women. The Iraq keychain is ideal for anyone who wants to carry their connection subtly but daily. Especially popular: the Iraq mirror in acrylic glass and the Iraq phone case with the map design. Every product combines Iraqi symbolism with premium material and everyday durability.

Buying an Iraq Necklace – What to Look For

If you're looking to buy an Iraq necklace, pay attention to three things: material, craftsmanship and chain length. You can choose between 316L stainless steel (more durable, scratch-resistant) and brass with 18K gold plating (warmer gold tone, the women's crest version features hand-set stones). For craftsmanship, check the pendant: whether eagle, flag or map – the details should be cleanly worked and the relief clearly defined. For chain length: men's 56 to 65 cm, women's 40 cm plus extension. At d'origine, you order directly from our shop – no middlemen. We ship worldwide: free shipping within Germany, free across Europe on orders over €25, and affordable international shipping to the US, Canada, UK, Australia and beyond.

How Many Iraqis Live Abroad?

The Iraqi diaspora is estimated at 4 to 5 million people worldwide – compared to a home population of roughly 43 million. In the United States, approximately 300,000 Iraqi Americans have settled, with a particularly prominent community in Dearborn, Michigan – one of the most significant Arab-American cities in the country. Dearborn is home to Chaldean, Assyrian, Kurdish and Arab Iraqi communities side by side. In Germany, an estimated 300,000 to 400,000 Iraqis and their descendants form one of the largest Iraqi communities in Europe, concentrated in Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony. Sweden hosts around 150,000, with significant populations also in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Jordan (approximately 500,000). An Iraq necklace is, for many, a daily sign of that connection – quiet, but unmistakable. At d'origine, we understand this feeling, because that's exactly why we founded the brand: jewellery that makes heritage visible.
