Serbian Necklace – Wear the Eagle That Defines You

A Serbian necklace is more than jewellery – it's a statement of who you are. The white double-headed eagle, the cross and the four firesteels: with a necklace from d'origine, you carry your Serbian roots right where the world can see them. Our Serbia Collection includes necklaces, bracelets, rings, keychains and phone cases – all crafted from premium materials and backed by a 365-day guarantee. Whether you grew up in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Chicago or Vienna: this necklace connects you to your heritage. At d'origine, people from more than 40 countries show where they come from. The Serbia Collection is one of the most popular in our range.

What Does the Serbian Coat of Arms Mean?

The Serbian coat of arms features a white double-headed eagle on a red shield – crowned and bearing a breast shield with a white cross and four firesteels (ocila). The four firesteels represent the motto "Samo Sloga Srbina Spasava" – "Only Unity Saves the Serbs". This motto has accompanied Serbian history since the Middle Ages. The double-headed eagle itself dates back to the Nemanjić dynasty, which ruled Serbia from the 12th to the 14th century and expanded the kingdom to its greatest extent. Under Stefan Dušan (1331–1355), Serbia became an empire and the eagle an imperial symbol. The connection to the Byzantine double-headed eagle is clear: Serbia saw itself as heir to the Eastern Roman Empire. Today, the white eagle is the official state emblem of Serbia and the central symbol of Serbian identity – whether on a passport, a football shirt or as a pendant on a necklace.

Serbian Jewellery: Gold, Faith and Tradition

Gold and jewellery hold deep meaning in Serbian culture, closely tied to the Orthodox Christian faith. Crosses and icon pendants are among the most traditional pieces of jewellery. For Slava – the feast of the family patron saint, celebrated by every Serbian family on a different day of the year – jewellery is a cherished gift. Slava is unique in the Orthodox world: in 2014, UNESCO recognised it as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. At Serbian weddings, gold also plays an important role: the bride receives gold coins and jewellery as a sign of family bond. In the diaspora, jewellery with Serbian motifs serves a special purpose: an eagle around the neck makes belonging visible – to culture, to family, to home. Our Serbian necklaces combine this tradition with modern design and materials built to last.

Material and Quality of Our Serbian Necklaces

Our Serbia Collection uses different materials depending on the product. The Serbian necklace for men is made from high-quality stainless steel with 18K gold plating – rust-proof, waterproof and scratch-resistant. The women's version is crafted from 18K gold-plated brass and hand-set with zirconia stones for an elegant, sparkling finish. Both versions are waterproof and allergy-friendly: wear them in the shower, at the gym or every day. All products come with a 365-day guarantee. Each necklace is delivered in a premium jewellery box – a perfect gift for Slava, weddings or Orthodox Christmas on 7 January.

Serbian Necklace for Men and Women

Our Serbia Collection has something for everyone. The men's necklace features a 60 cm curb chain with a bold stainless steel pendant – the double-headed eagle with cross and firesteels in strong relief. The women's version comes with a finer 40 cm chain (plus 5 cm extension) and a zirconia-studded pendant – elegant yet equally expressive. Both are available in silver and gold. For those who want the complete look, the Serbia Bundle pairs a necklace with a matching bracelet at a reduced set price.

Serbian Necklace in Silver or Gold – Which One Suits You?

Gold carries deep significance in Serbian culture – at weddings, for Slava and at family celebrations, gold jewellery has been the most meaningful gift for generations. The gold version of our Serbian necklace honours that tradition: the 18K gold plating gives the eagle a warm, rich glow. The silver version offers a cooler, more modern look – and echoes the white eagle of the coat of arms. Both variants are waterproof and allergy-friendly. Many customers order both colours or add the matching bracelet bundle.

More Than a Necklace: The Full Serbia Range

Beyond necklaces, our Serbia Collection offers a wide range of accessories. The Serbian bracelet pairs perfectly with the necklace and works on its own or as a set. The Serbia keychain is ideal for anyone who wants to carry their connection subtly but daily. Especially popular: the Serbia phone case and the Serbian ring with the eagle motif. Every product combines Serbian symbolism with premium material and everyday durability.

Buying a Serbian Necklace – What to Look For

If you're looking to buy a Serbian necklace, pay attention to three things: material, craftsmanship and chain length. For material, stainless steel and high-quality brass with 18K gold plating are the best options – far more durable than cheap fashion jewellery that tarnishes within weeks. For craftsmanship, check the eagle pendant: the crown, cross and four firesteels should be cleanly worked and the relief clearly defined. For chain length, we recommend 55 to 60 cm for men and 40 to 50 cm for women. At d'origine, you order directly from our shop – no middlemen. We ship worldwide: free shipping within Germany, free across Europe on orders over €25, and affordable international shipping to the US, Canada, Australia, UK and beyond.

How Many Serbians Live Abroad?

The Serbian diaspora is estimated at 3 to 4 million people worldwide. In Germany, around 300,000 to 400,000 Serbians and their descendants form one of the largest South-Eastern European communities in the country. Austria and Switzerland each have significant Serbian populations of around 300,000 and 200,000 respectively. In the United States, over 200,000 Serbians have settled, with Chicago widely regarded as the largest Serbian city outside the Balkans. Serbian communities also thrive in Sweden, France, Canada and Australia. A Serbian necklace with the eagle is, for many, a daily sign of that connection – quiet, but unmistakable. At d'origine, we understand this feeling, because that's exactly why we founded the brand: jewellery that makes heritage visible.
