Armenian Necklace – Wear the Mountain That Defines Your People

An Armenian necklace is more than jewellery – it's a declaration of who you are. Mount Ararat, the cross, the pomegranate: with a necklace from d'origine, you carry your Armenian roots right where the world can see them. Our Armenia Collection includes necklaces for men and women, a crest necklace and a phone case – crafted from premium materials and backed by a 365-day guarantee. Whether you grew up in Yerevan, Gyumri, Glendale or Berlin: this necklace connects you to your heritage. At d'origine, people from more than 40 countries show where they come from.

What Does the Armenian Coat of Arms Mean?

The Armenian coat of arms features Mount Ararat with Noah's Ark at its peak in the centre – although Ararat lies in present-day Turkey, it remains Armenia's national symbol and an expression of the Armenian people's deep bond with the mountain. Surrounding the Ararat are four historic royal dynasties: the Artaxiads (lion), the Arsacids (eagle), the Bagratids (crowned eagle) and the Lusignans (lion with cross). Above the shield rest a sword, laurel branch, wheat sheaves, feather and shield – symbols of struggle, peace, agriculture, science and defence. Armenia became the first country in the world to adopt Christianity as its state religion in 301 AD. The cross is therefore the deepest symbol of Armenian identity. Khachkars – intricately carved stone crosses – have been a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2010. The pomegranate is another central symbol: it represents fertility, abundance and the Armenian nation itself.

Armenian Jewellery: Cross, Gold and Millennia of Craft

Armenia has one of the oldest jewellery traditions in the world. As early as the Bronze Age (3rd millennium BC), artisans in the Armenian Highlands crafted elaborate jewellery from gold, silver and gemstones. The most famous archaeological jewellery collection from Armenia comes from the fortress of Erebuni (founded 782 BC) and the area around Lake Sevan. The Armenian cross – with its characteristic flared arms and floral ornamentation – is recognised worldwide as a jewellery motif and is distinctly different from other Christian crosses. In 405 AD, Mesrop Mashtots created the Armenian alphabet, and since then letters have also become a beloved jewellery motif – especially the first letter Ayb (Ա). At Armenian weddings, gold plays a central role: the bride receives gold chains, bangles and cross pendants. In the diaspora, jewellery with Armenian motifs serves a special purpose: it makes belonging visible – to culture, to faith, to home.

Material and Quality of Our Armenian Necklaces

Our Armenia Collection offers two material lines. The Armenian necklace for men (65 cm in silver, 56 cm in gold) and the Armenian necklace for women (40 cm + 15 cm extension) are made from premium 316L stainless steel – rust-proof, waterproof and scratch-resistant, available in 18K gold-plated or high-gloss polished silver. The Armenian crest necklace for women (40 cm + 5 cm) is crafted from 18K gold-plated brass for a particularly warm gold tone. All variants are waterproof and allergy-friendly. All products come with a 365-day guarantee. Each necklace is delivered in a premium jewellery box – a perfect gift for Christmas (6 January in the Armenian calendar), weddings or any special occasion.

Armenian Necklace in Silver or Gold – Which One Suits You?

Gold carries deep significance in Armenian culture – at weddings and family celebrations, gold jewellery has been the most meaningful gift for generations. The gold version of our Armenian necklace honours that tradition: the 18K gold plating gives the pendant a warm, rich glow. The silver version offers a cooler, more modern look – perfect for everyday wear. Alongside the necklaces, we also offer the Armenian phone case with the map design for all popular smartphone models.

Buying an Armenian Necklace – What to Look For

If you're looking to buy an Armenian necklace, pay attention to three things: material, craftsmanship and chain length. For material, you can choose between 316L stainless steel (more durable, scratch-resistant) and brass with 18K gold plating (warmer gold tone). For craftsmanship, check the pendant: the details should be cleanly worked and the relief clearly defined. For chain length: men's 56 to 65 cm, women's 40 cm plus extension. At d'origine, you order directly from our shop – no middlemen. We ship worldwide: free shipping within Germany, free across Europe on orders over €25, and affordable international shipping to the US, Canada, UK, Australia and beyond.

How Many Armenians Live Abroad?

The Armenian diaspora is one of the oldest and most widely dispersed in the world. An estimated 7 to 8 million Armenians live outside Armenia – significantly more than the roughly 3 million inhabitants of the country itself. Russia hosts the largest Armenian community at approximately 2 million. In the United States, around 1.5 million Armenian Americans have settled – Glendale, California has the highest concentration and is often called the "Armenian capital of America". Vibrant communities also thrive in Fresno, Los Angeles and Boston. France is home to around 600,000 Armenians, Georgia to approximately 250,000 and Lebanon to roughly 150,000. In Germany, an estimated 50,000 to 80,000 Armenians and their descendants have made their home. An Armenian necklace is, for many, a daily sign of that connection – quiet, but unmistakable. At d'origine, we understand this feeling, because that's exactly why we founded the brand: jewellery that makes heritage visible.
